Shelton Street Portrait: Mark

Meet Mark.  Mark lives with his wife in the Jr. High Apartments; he is an exceptional forester and an all around great guy. Mark can be depended on to keep the neighborhood in order. Before Mark moved to our neighborhood the sidewalks and alleys were always blocked up with Safeway shopping carts. But now Mark returns all the stray shopping carts, he also keeps the gates to loop field shut and he keeps my front gate shut.   In addition, Mark delivers newspapers and phone books to my yard when he finds them in my driveway. He never trespasses; he just sets them inside my gate. I assume Mark provides this service to the entire neighborhood.

Mark loves horses and he works a few hours a day in a local horse barn, as he walks to and from his bus stop he keeps our street in order. Recently he repaired my daughters toy horse when he found it discarded in Loop Field. If only Mark could repair potholes too, our street would be in great shape! The next time you see Mark say hi to him, he loves to talk.

  1. I really love this post and this photo; it strikes a chord on so many levels that I can't think of anything to say that would not diminish this feeling, except, Thanks Shawnie!
