Rude baseball fan of the day
Yes, it's perfectly legal but it's really rude to block mail boxes and make it impossible for people to be able to see when they are pulling out of a driveway.
LEONARD PELTIER RALLY
In 1992, TESC was honored to have Native American Activist and Leader Leonard Peltier as our graduation speaker. At that time he had served 16 years for a crime that he did not commit. He has now served 36 years. There is a current movement to grant him clemency. Please come to the local rally for this effort this Saturday, May 19th. Please forward this to all lists that you are on and to Facebook accounts if you are on Facebook. 36 years of Illegal imprisonment is enough!

How white people park?
I find it interesting that the hispanic soccer players never park in front our house anymore. But the mostly white little league parents with fancy cars, are rude as hell. They always park in front of our mailbox house and sometimes block our driveway.
Is this white privilege at work?

How Anonymous Does it: Taking Down Websites with DDoS Attacks
How Anonymous Does it: Taking Down Websites with DDoS Attacks
Have you been watching the media coverage about how groups like Anonymous have taken the websites of government agencies and corporations offline? Are you curious about how these attacks work and how to defend against them? Join us for this hands-on workshop and learn about how they work through hands-on demonstrations.
In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of DDoS attacks and how they work. They will also learn how to use and package several popular software tools used in DDoS attacks including the Low Orbit Ion Cannon (famously used in attacks by Anonymous to defend Wikileaks) and the Greek ECD Tool. Participants will participate in a live attack on our systems to hone their website takedown skills. Because of the hands-on nature of this workshop, participants are asked to bring laptops with the capability of connecting to wireless internet (most laptops) or a friend who has one.
This workshop is designed for people who are not technically inclined. If you can browse the web, are into learning new things and are willing to go a little outside of your comfort zone, you have the skills necessary to learn everything that will be presented at the workshop. We understand that some things in this workshop may be challenging for people who have never done anything on their computers outside of checking their email and have designed this workshop with this in mind.

Accessing Public Records: How to Get Mad Paper from The Government
Accessing Public Records: How to Get Mad Paper from The Government
**Please forward widely**
Are you interested in obtaining records from the city, the police, the county, or state agencies including state schools?
Do you want to know how you (or anybody else) can get records from these agencies at minimal cost or for free?
This hands-on workshop is free and open to the public. It will give you all the knowledge you need to start making public records requests. All participants will receive digital copies of the presentation including a number of records that you may find useful in making your requests. This workshop will cover the Washington State Public Records Act and the Washington State Open Meetings Act. We will also briefly discuss obtaining records from federal agencies under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act. It's worth noting that now-famous military spy John Towery was discovered through the course of a public records request (http://www.johntowery.com).
Whether you want to beef up your research skills, start a copwatch program, or find evidence to support your wrongful firing claim, this is a workshop you can't miss. This workshop is led by somebody who has years of experience making public records requests to local, state, and federal agencies. The records they have received are numbered in the tens of thousands.

HARASSMENT IN THE DIGITAL AGE
HARASSMENT IN THE DIGITAL AGE
Why does someone become a cyber bullyer? What's the difference between cyber bullying and harassment? What is the line according to the law between a "joke" and harassment? Are there legal ramifications for offenders? What is society's role and how does the use of technology change the face of harassment? And, who's responsibility is it?
If you're looking for answers to these questions, come explore the issue of cyber harassment in this interactive workshop. Share your experiences, critically analyze proactive solutions to cyber harassment, such as personal and societal responsibility. Discuss the many ways in which the internet as an institution, may or may not contribute to systematic oppression through power dynamics and learn something new! We will be sharing the results of our current research and having an open dialogue regarding the material presented. Please RSVP by replying to this email. The workshop will be held Wednesday May 9th from 1-3pm in Sem IIA 2107. Light refreshments will be provided.

Search Bubbles
Heh, talk about being trapped in a search bubble, I can not log onto the English version of my blog with this computer that I took to China. It's stuck on Chinese for blogger AND blogger is behind the great fire wall of China, so it makes no sense.. I could not access blogger at all when I was in China.
